Acer still won’t tell you the Nitro Blaze handheld release date

Acer used CES 2026 to showcase monitors, laptops, and other devices in Las Vegas. But what they didn’t show was a telltale sign: the Nitro Blaze gaming laptops the company had been teasing for over a year were nowhere to be seen.

If you’re waiting for the Acer Nitro Blaze laptop to launch before buying your next laptop, you’re still in the dark. Acer says the laptop category is still part of its plans in the US, but the company hasn’t set a local launch date and is prioritizing core products given the uncertainty surrounding tariffs.

Acer’s roadmap remains unclear

Acer first hinted at its mobile ambitions by showcasing a Nitro Blaze 7 prototype at IFA 2024. At CES 2025, the company expanded its lineup with the Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11, including an unusually large 11-inch model that seemed designed to stand out from its smaller competitors.

At CES 2026, the buzz surrounding mobile devices cooled. Acer’s message was that mobile devices weren’t off the table, but their US launch plans were still under consideration, given the impact of tariffs and the company’s focus on categories it already sold in large numbers.

Competition in the market has intensified rapidly

Even without the impact of tariffs, breaking into the gaming laptop market is challenging. The Steam Deck has become a favorite among many buyers, and newer Windows laptops like the Xbox Ally X and Legion Go 2 are generating significant buzz.

The supply side of things makes timing even more difficult. Rising memory costs and a shortage of graphics processing units (GPUs) have made investing in PC components riskier in 2026, especially for a niche device that still needs to prove demand. For Acer, committing to production and pricing before the numbers stabilize could backfire, which is why they’re worried.

What you should do instead:

If you need a laptop soon, plan based on what’s available now, not what might come later. Acer hasn’t announced a US release date, and their absence from CES 2026 suggests the company is still figuring out when, or even if, the right time is.

If the Nitro Blaze does return, the most important questions won’t be about screen size. Look for pricing, regional availability, and a clear reason to choose it over other options. Until Acer announces deadlines, assume delays are possible, and consider any future demos as just that—demands.
